Scrapbooking, Bouquet Toss

When I noticed sketch challenge #20 over at ScrapFriends , I knew I wanted to play along.     I already had my little square photos, so I knew I wasn't going to make them into circles, but I thought I could add in the circle feel other ways.  I looked for circular wooden embellishments, circle stencils, and looped up twine.  I definitely used up a bit of my stash on this one.  I used up lots of odd and ends and a few new things too.  I can't decide if my favorite part is the polka dots I added to the background or the bouquet of blue glittery stars. This definitely makes for a fun page for my wedding scrapbook!

Scrapbooking, Dashing Through the Snow

It's another make it Monday over at The Memory Nest .  It's a beautiful color challenge.  I just love  this mix of colors.  It's a fresh take for Christmas and winter colors.  For the twist you have to add some texture. I added some strange cardboard stuff I had laying around.  I think it was packaging for something, but I have no clue anymore.     I started making this page by stamping the triangles.  I don't normally use color ink with stamping, but I wanted to try something more out of the ordinary.  The triangles looked way to plain by themselves, so I added some "snowballs."  I used some gesso and a stencil to make them all over.  It added so much texture.  Then I layered the paper, added photos and framed them, added embellishments and then added the title.  I decided to add my journaling to the lower right corner, but then the upper left looked much to lonely, so I stamped that little yeti.  I just love his playfulness.  He is just too cu

Scrapbooking, Got Bread?

I just love this photo of my daughter and I have been letting it sit on my desk for way to long.  It shows the best part of being two and that's the mischief!  I decided to use the Paper Girls' Confetti Challenge to jump start scraping this photo.  It also helps that I've been on a confetti shaker obsession lately. I used up this film strip from basic gray to make my confetti shaker.  I always wanted to use the strip to hold photos, but I realized that it just was never going to happen because I never have photos that small to use or crop down to that size. I only had one photo of this moment and I knew that journaling was going to be important to capture what happened, so I had to make sure I had lots of room to journal.  I usually have the hardest time with journaling because I usually don't know what to stay, but I'm trying to get better at this.     I also tried to use gold on my layout.  I normally stay away from gold as I prefer silver

Scrapbooking, Snuggle & Hug

It's another make it Monday over at the Memory Nest ! You can choose your sketch for inspiration and then you have to choose a phrase from the inspiration.  There is a lot of freedom with this make it so head on over there!   I had a lot of fun making the photo a little shaker box. I just love the little wooden hearts. It's a short post today because now I have to bring this little guy to his 4month check up!

Scrapbooking, Moments in the Snow

I'm glad to finally get around to scraping these photos from when we flew back to New York last year to visit our family.  There was a really cute sketch challenge going on at My Scraps & More.   I just love when I can get a bunch of photos onto a layout. I love the colors of this layout because they are no where near the normal colors you would think of for a Christmas/Winter layout. It just turned out so bright and happy!  This also is a list layout, which I have never done before.  I'm glad to finally got around to making a page like this.  There is a lot of texture on this page as well.  I have paper frames, fabric frames, and a wooden frame to help give a lot of texture. Plus the silver frame is actually the back of a gold frame from Maggie Holmes' Flea Market.  The gold wouldn't work with this layout, but the silvery back worked great!  I used up some paper scraps on this layout and that is always a great thing.

Coffee Sleeve

I just wanted to share this cute fox coffee sleeve I made for one of my besties' birthday.  I had to wait a few days before I posted it to make sure I didn't mess up the surprise for my friend.  I got the directions for it here .  It didn't come out perfect, but it came out as well as it was going to for have two little ones who need my attention every five minutes.  I kind of hope I can find some time to make another one.  I would love to do one in some crazy orange fabric.

Scrapbooking, Wonderful

It's another Monday and that means another challenge is going on at the Memory Nest .  It's a color challenge with a twist of triangles! Anyways, don't be fooled by this page, my son is currently driving me CRAZY!  He doesn't want to go to sleep tonight.  I'm thinking that he is more wonderful than I ever dreamed because I never get a chance to dream!  Ha!  But really, the poor little guy is teething and I just feel bad for him because their is not really anything I can do to help him. Well, I decided to give those gelatos one more go. This time I used them to color the frame (from Create Paper's The Pie)r a lovely shade of orange.  I'm actually happy with how well they covered the frame.  Originally, I had planed to do a paper patchwork of triangles, but my photos ended up competing too much, so I opted for the triangle journaling card instead.  I also added some wooden trianglse on my page.  They actually are arrows that I just sniped the long p

Scrapbooking, Playful

I've been wanting to scrap this photo for a while.  It's the first toy my daughter ever assigned a real name to.  When I noticed this layout challenge at Scrap Friends , I knew this photo of my daughter's toy would be perfect for it. What I loved about this sketch was the feathers, but feathers didn't seem to work with my photo, so I ended up using some banners instead. Since the photo is so playful, I wanted to use a fun energetic paper.  I used this lovey dovey paper from Bella Blvd.  I just loved the colors in it, so I used the colors to pull out coordinating sequence to add to my page.  It's just the kind of page that make me happy.

Scrapbooking, Never Alone

It's Monday and that means another Challenge is going on at The Memory Nest .  The challenge is to use a selfie with the sketch below.  Now, I never take selfies, so I had to go and try to take a few.  Every time I tried, my daughter would pop her head in.  Her popping in is what inspired my title.     Now I tried another technique with some gelatos again, but I'm still not liking it.  I was really wanting them to help add some texture.  So, I covered my experiment up as best as I could.   I have also added in some journaling after I took the photo of the layout.  It took me a while to come up with what I wanted to say.  I ended up writing a little bit about what I love about being a mommy.  The journaling ended up being way more emotional than I normal do.  I think my favorite part of the page ended up being the little wooden people.  I just think they are so darling!

Scrapbooking, Guestbook

I always look forward to when Scrapfriends comes out with a new sketch.  I just love the splatters!  Anyways, I knew I just had to use this sketch for some guestbook cards from when I got married a few years back.  I had just found them again and I've been trying to find fun ways to get them into my wedding scrapbook.  It has been such a blast reading them! I tried using gelatos on this layout, but I mostly made a mess and warped my paper a bit.  I know lots of people are loving them, but I'm really not much of a fan.  I'll give them a few more tries.  Maybe I'll find a way to use them that I like. I've had the wooden envelopes for a long time just waiting for a good layout for them.  I'm so glad to finally use them!

Scrapbooking, This Way

I made this page for another great color challenge with a fall theme going on over at the Memory Nest right now.  I was really inspired by the gray color.  It isn't a color I normally think of for fall, but I loved using it as a base.  I stamped a bunch of leaves onto the background to bring out the orange, but the laves were a bit too distracting, so I ended up water coloring some of the page orange to tone down the leaves a bit.  I also painted some vertical lines yellow to mimic the corn even though yellow wasn't exactly in the color challenge.  Finally, if you look at the upper right corner you can see I made a spot for the map.  I tried to make it in such a way that the map would hide the little bit of blue and pink that was on that paper.  I couldn't find any other way to hide that blue and pink.  I didn't have any embellishments that were big enough to cover it without loosing the grid work.       I had a lot of fun adding a variety of embelli

Scrapooking, Perfect Moment

I was trying to do some cleaning and found some of my wedding photos and really wanted to scrap one.  The paper girls have a sewing challenge going on right now and I knew it would be perfect for my wedding photo.  I sewed around the outside with my sewing machine. I knew I wanted to hand sew the ombre feather and I'm really happy with how it came out.  Of course, I did some water color again because I'm on a water color kick.  I also decided to make my journaling hidden because it is a really crazy story about some killer squirrels that goes with this photo.

Scrapbooking, Pumpkin Patch

I loved how the water color background turned out for my son's page so much, that I had to try it again.  This time, I thought I would make a two page layout for my daughter's book since it has been a very long time since I've tried one.   I wanted to scrap these pumpkin patch pictures from last year because we were just about to go to the pumpkin patch again and I thought they would help me get into the fall mood.  I just love fall, but the weather in the pacific northwest is so unpredictable this time of year.  You never know if there is going to be a sunny day to go pumpkin picking so you have to take advantage of one when it comes!   Scrap Our Stash had their Tic Tac Toe challenge again, so I thought I would give it a go.  I went right down the center and did 3 buttons, decorative pins, and wood veneers.  I scattered buttons randomly onto the page.  I used up the little joy pin from Little Yellow Bicycle that I had laying around still.  I also added a li

Scrapbooking, Little Dude

Oh I'm so in love.  I finally got to scrap a photo of my little dude!  I love the softness of this page.  I made this page for The Memory Nest's ombre challenge.  It's a fun one so head on over there and try it!   I wanted to include the date he was born, but I changed it up a bit.  I colored in the july (the paper is a journaling card from doodlebug) to show his birth month and put some number stickers in the lower right of the photo for the day.  I stamped the year on the tab and used a heart for the zero.   My favorite part is the little elephant stamp because it hints to the elephants in my little dude's blanket that I almost destroyed.  Thank goodness for some rit dye fixing stuff.

Scrapbooking, Sunshine

I love yellow pages.  They always make me so happy.  I made this for SWAT drill 16 .  The layout sketch was a fun one to work with.  I stitched the pink cloud and then made another one out of some vellum.  At first the cloud was going to be yellow, but I wanted to make it stand out more so pink it was!  I also used some weird texture board that I had laying around and I misted it up with yellow, orange, and pink. Normally, I make my pages about the event in the picture.  This photo was originally going to tell about my daughter playing in the sprinkler, but it turned out to be more about her expression.  So my journaling was more like a little prayer for my daughter then the normal story telling.     The twist for the drill was some twine.  I used it for the button and I also wanted to use it to stitch the cloud, but I only had yellow and blue twine and that wasn't working well.

Scrapbooking, Umbrella

I made this page for the sketch challenge 17 at ScrapFriends .  I picked this photo of my daughter because I loved the colors from her skirt and umbrella.  At first I had my page oriented the same as the sketch, but then I realized that the ribbon kind of looked like rain, so I rotated my page.  Then I ended up cutting up my vellum layer into a cloud since the ribbon looked like it needed a cloud to come out of.  I also then added some cloud stamps to help fill up the sky.  It's funny how a page can turn out very differently then what was planned.     The ribbon colors were originally supposed to be a big version of my daughter's skirt before I decided that they should be rain.

Scrapbooking, Hidden Beach

What a fun challenge is in store for everyone at the Memory Nest !  Here is my water inspiration for everyone.  At first I was going to do a page of my little dude's first bath, but these photos from one of out impromptu trips to one of our favorite beaches this summer while we were waiting for the little guy to make an appearance worked better with the interactive element I wanted to do.      So the twist was to make an interactive element.  At first I thought about cutting out that upper photo of my daughter and myself walking on the beach and making a tab that you could pull out to actually make us walk, but I ended up deciding that my cutting skills were not up for that challenge.  I ended up just doing a big flap up and a little pull out journaling tag.   On of my favorite details is the stitched title.  I love the texture it creates.  The title might seem kind of weird, but the beach we were at is basically in downtown Bellevue.  The entrance is hidden a

Scrapbooking, Rattlesnake Ridge

I had more photos that I wanted to scrapbook of this hike we did last year.  I'm very happy with this layout.  I wasn't positive the photos hanging all out on the top of the page was going to balance well with all the emptiness in the middle, but the ink splats really helped fill the void.   I normally stay away from brown, but on a nature page these brown thickers did the trick and I got to use my new golden yellow washi tape!   Rattlesnake Ridge is one of my favorite trails and I never get tired of it, but I was recently reminded how dangerous it is.  I recently found out on the news that someone slipped off the rocks at the top and passed away just a few days ago.  Hiking this trail isn't going to be the same.

Scrapbooking, Stay This Little

Just wanted to share the page I made for The Memory Nest .  I'm so glad to still be on the design team for the Fall.     I felt like the color pallet on this challenge was very retro with all the brown, orange, and yellow.  It reminds me of the curtain hanging in my parents dinning room.  Anyways, I thought this color pallet would work well with these pictures of my daughter in her bright yellow shirt.    The twist to the challenge was to use one of the sayings for your tittle.  I decided to use the "I know you won't."  I just added on to it to make it more relevant to my page.    I had to keep the page simple, as I rather sleep than scrapbook right now.  Oh, I just hope the little guy will start to sleep more then just two hours in a row soon.  The lack of sleep is really starting to get to me.  The most complicated thing I did was cut out the hexagons (Hey, that is Moose's favorite shape!).  I also used one of my pier frames that I just go
